Welcome to the latest edition of our quarterly newsletter which is packed with information, bringing to life the difference we’re making to help people access skills, celebrate skills and advocate for those who need it most. From awarding funding to individuals looking to access heritage craft skills, through to the opening of the bike workshop at HMP Pentonville made possible by funding we awarded to XO Bikes, and more recently, the great event we had at Mansion House in London with some of our Fellows and the Lord Mayor of London – all exploring how we can maximise productivity and break down barriers. All of this serves as a reminder to me of the power of collaboration and of course the power of access to skills for all. I hope you enjoy reading!

Fellowships Event: Paving the way to progress in Engineering
At Mansion House in London, we brought together some of our Fellows with the Lord Mayor, Michael Mainelli, and Imperial College to share expert perspectives with those looking to progress in the engineering sector.
Funding exceptional craftspeople through Heritage Crafts bursary
We are delighted to announce funding for four exceptional craftspeople through the Heritage Crafts bursary scheme. Through this scheme we provide up to £4,000 per person to support heritage crafts trainees that might otherwise struggle to upskill.
Supporting individuals into entry-level green sector roles
We know that the cost of training can be a huge obstacle to accessing the skills needed to get into work. When we heard that Catch22 were focusing on identifying entry-level green jobs and upskilling individuals to work in these roles, we knew this was a good fit for our bursary programme.
In the summer we had the pleasure of going along to HMP Pentonville for the official opening of the XO Bikes workshop which is one of our most recent funded programmes, through the Big Idea Fund. Our funding will see 54 of the men in Pentonville this year learn practical bike mechanic skills.
Some of our Celebrity Fellows from the worlds of TV, fashion and journalism explain how skills training helped them on their path to success, in a series of exclusive interviews.
